Mikel Bensend is a Certified Advanced Rolfer who blends his experience in Rolfing Structural Integration, Functional Bio-mechanics, Visceral Manipulation, Neural Integration, Cranial Sacral Therapy, and Traditional Thai Massage with integrated movement knowledge gleaned from his studies in and teaching Aikido. A Certified Gyrotonic Instructor, Mr. Bensend skillfully brings his studies in different forms of movement integration to balance his soft tissue manual bodywork.
Mikel Bensend's exploration into Structural Integration began personally after years of working with horses and commercial fishing in Alaska, professions that make deep tissue massage therapy and Rolfing seem like a walk in the park! Receiving Rolfing changed his life as it relieved his chronic pain so much that he was able to fully function again. This was his AHA moment, and he turned his lemons into lemonade. Mr. Bensend attended Utah College of Massage Therapy for a massage therapy foundation in the field. Upon graduation, he apprenticed with a Certified Rolfer and UCMT Deep Tissue instructor. After several years in private practice, Mikel enrolled in the highly acclaimed Rolf Institute in Colorado, where he obtained his advanced certification.
An adventure seeker, whether it be backcountry skiing in the Tetons, mountain biking the Porcupine Rim of Moab or commercial fishing crab in the Bering Sea, Mikel Bensend understands performance and the importance of body and mind alignment to be able to perform at top levels.
